I'm a new mom and didn't even know that people didn't wipe every time! I use the sensitive wipes and haven't had a problem. I don't give my LO a bath every day either since it actually irritates her skin. She gets one every 3 or so. However, it makes sense that the diaper would wick all the moisture.

I didn't mean to make a mommy war! I can see both sides of the coin. Especially with girls, I wouldn't want to increase to chances of an infection with excessive wiping. I usually just wipe by his sack and rolly thighs. He's so chunky I'm afriad he will get stinky thigh rolls. What cantalopes said makes sense(wiping on non bath days), but I'm so use to wiping every time it seems weird not too!
There were times at the beginning when we'd do those rapid fire diaper changes, like several within an hour, that I wouldn't wipe her because it seemed like we were wiping way too much and it might cause irritation. But now that that phase is over, we wipe every time.
hmmmm. I am obviously the odd man out here, but I really don't ever wipe at diaper changes-pee or poop. I mean, I give a quick swipe to get the excess poop off of her of course, but I just use a dry baby washcloth. I never use wet wipes, ever. Actually, I haven't purchased wet wipes since DD was 2 months old. I have read that all of the excess moisture from wet wiping breeds bacterial growth. She gets a bath every night where I wash her butt and vagina thoroughly. That's enough, right?
