I *loved* the 17's. The 18's are hurting the balls of my feet. I spoke to a salesman at sports chalet today (not where I bought them, I was picking up race registration) and he said the 18's are less padded and that could be causing it. I'm trying to figure out whether I should tough through it and hopefully build bigger callouses or try to start hunting for and hoarding 17's. Thoughts?
I own the Kayano 18s and have been finding that they seem to be aggravating/causing some plantar fasciitis. I've had to go back to old Asics Foundations, which don't bother it. I want to go to a running store to figure out what the issue is and what new sneakers might be better for me.
When I was the running store last weekend the sales person mentioned that they have had complaints from customers about knee pain with the 18's. Then she went on a rant about how Asics has gone downhill since they went to the big box stores. Who knows? My dh swears by them but still has the 17's.

I ordered 7 pairs of the 17s on eBay tonight. They'll get me though at least a couple of years. :-). I'm returning the 18s to the running store and will get a bunch of Gu or something with my credit.
I went to a running store today to analyze my running - they said that I don't overpronate and likely don't need so much motion control in my shoes. Bought a pair of Brooks "Defyance" (my first brooks and my first non-motion control sneakers). I'm hoping maybe they'll be different and help my feet.
Good idea to stock up on the ones that work for you - it's totally frustrating when companies change a working formula and you can't buy the old ones.
