There is a "moms" email server for my neighborhood - usually it's people selling stuff or finding a nanny or whatever. Once in a while we get into political debates - this is the response to someone saying they had Romney signs if anyone wanted them for their yard.
And on that note of political divisiveness...
Anyone else notice that the people standing outside of king Soopers asking people if they are registered to vote... are only asking minorities, people with disabilities...those are the only people I saw & tried very hard to get them to notice me and ask. Thinking I was overreacting...I watched them for a little while and saw them plainly ignore the "white" people going in and asking only the "black" people or dare I say, (even more non PC) those that didn't "look" like they lived in "the neighborhood" & possibly on some form of entitlement (aka the 47%)...there was an obese white disabled guy in a wheelchair (my husband saw that guy when he made a trip into king Soopers & was also "ignored"). My white educated healthy looking able bodied young brother visiting from Idaho also noticed this trend & wasn't asked ( let alone specifically targeted & stopped).
SOooo I'm just wondering...is it okay to send ppl out to register voters & obviously train them who to target...as these would be likely Obama voters!
Yeah...it's reverse discrimination...but is it legal when it comes to registering ppl to vote?
Sure u can sense my political leanings...and being that neighborhood is predom democrat-Obama lovers...prob not the place to ask. But my other option was "9 news what's to know"....haha:)
Given the R.'s feelings about photo ID and voting I am sort of ok with this kind of "reverse discrimination".
Besides, everyone knows that the 47% can't wipe their own asses without help, so registering to vote would be tatamount to harnessing clean nuclear energy, I guess.

OMG. I don't even know where to start on that. I especially like the "quotes" around "white", "black", and didn't "look" like they lived in "the neighborhood."
Ugh...so just because they are minorities, they not only don't look like they belong in your posh neighborhood, but are also likely 'on some form of entitlement'?!?
WTF...anyone on your email server respond to this idiot?
ETA: My mom is terrible about forwarding political emails she's always gettting and someone in her neighborhood called her out for it and asked her to remove her email from future forwards...it was one of the anti-immigrant, 'I shouldn't have to dial 1 for English in AMERICA' type of email forwards. Just really ignorant and inflammatory. I have been trying to convice her for ages not to re-forward that crap to people, but she just still seems totally oblivious that not everyone shares her views.

How did she try to get them to notice her? Did she walk up and stand in front of their table? Are she and her husband already registered to vote? Did they deny them the opportunity to register when they tried? Why does it matter that they didn't try to register her brother who presumably lives out if state, since registering where you don't live is illegal?
Lot's of white people have responded saying that they've been asked repeatedly if they are registered to vote, both going in the store and coming out.
Honestly, she sounds like she's on drugs. Her post barely makes sense, and has nothing to do with the thread that it's posted in. Maybe the voter registration people can sense that and are staying clear
You can also tell her that I'm an educated white woman (who pays taxes!) who is just sick and tired about being asked if I've registered to vote every time I walk outside my door, so my anecdote cancels hers.
