the first one, by far. Bigger house, bigger lot, bigger kitchen. To me, the kitchen is the "heart" of the home. Love the wood floors, and the layout of the living room...
To me, they need the same "updates" so it is irrelevant (oak cabinets, although I understand this is regional, wall paper, old carpet etc)
It looks like you get more for your money with the first one. More land, more square footage, extra bedroom and extra bathroom, but I like the layout (from what I can tell) on the second house better.
#2 I only looked at the basic stats and outside picture, but I hate the garage doors overwhelming the house in #1 and I would never want to clean or maintain that much house or yard so #2 is much more appealing at first glace.
Stranger (but also currently, dilligently house shopping!!) voting #1 You'll de-eighty-fy it through all your personalization, no problem! (@ least this is what this non-home-owner tells herself )

#1 is the better MM buy (1 more BR/Ba and 1k more square feet, for only $10k more)
But, there are a lot more cosmetic updates to be done and the curb appeal is not great IMO. I don't like houses that are all roof and garage from the front.
#2 since I agree with vanilla that I don't like that it's all roof and garage from the front. It like that it is open inside, but the outside gets me. I'd be annoyed to see that every time I came home. I kind of like the location of the first house better though. But yes, definitely the second house.

I actually like the first one better. The kitchen is way better. I think you're getting more for your money, and you can take the extra $10k and replace the shag carpeting. The second is very generic 90s IMO.
#1 - It's bigger, I like the exterior better, and I'm comfortable doing the kinds of things it needs to look updated. (They're mostly the same things I'm doing to my house.)
I am going to assume that the reason there's more sq footage for the first house is because they are including the basement and house #2 is not. House #2 says it's a daylight basement, so I'm going to assume it's walkout but not yet finished. Correct me if I am wrong there.
If what I said above is accurate, then I'd choose house #2. It would need less renovation. It appears there is a playground for kids. IDK how much that matters to you.

Not 100% sure. I have been in house #1 and the entire basement is finished with the exception of a small area that holds the water heater.
