Hubby and I are going to Lake Tahoe for 6 days (with no kids :drink: ) in a couple of weeks. The last 3 days of the trip will actually be a retreat for his firm, so we'll have dinners and activities planned through that. However, we decided to go up 3 days early because it's the week of our wedding anniversary.
Looking for some really good, casual restaurants. The more local, the better. Thanks!
I know you'll be at the Ritz, so you could do the spa there, but I love spa days at the Resort at Squaw Creek--their sports bar (Sandy's Pub) is pretty decent as well.
We just tried this cheapie hole in the wall Chinese food place: China Express Take-Out. It didn't thrill my soul, but if you're craving cheap chinese, it'll hit the spot. Not much seating inside, but you could grab some chop sticks and take it out to the beach.
What else are you looking to do? There is some INCREDIBLE hiking up there--and because we didn't get as much snow this year, you can actually access a lot of it already (last year we had trouble doing full hikes in June because there was still snow on the trails!) I can recommend a variety of hikes if you are interested.

I completely forgot about this post until tonight. Too much going on on CEP.
Anyway, will check out those 2 restaurant recs.
Believe it or not, we really don't want to do anything hiking related. This is our 1st trip for more than 1 night without our kids and we really just want a) out of the Texas heat, and b) to veg. What we would love it something like a cool day out on the lake on a boat. Any recs?
It can be a little crowded on weekends, but I always like to go to Sunnyside. It's just outside Tahoe City, and has a beautiful big deck on the lake. If nothing else, it's very romantic for cocktails at sunset. They also rent stand up paddle boards & kayaks, which is a super fun way to explore the lake.

If you're looking for truly casual, we really like Jax at the Trax in Truckee.
As far as renting a boat goes, you can go to Meeks Bay Marina (which is technically West Shore) and do speedboats, paddleboats, canoes, kayaks, whatever floats your boat. I'm not aware of any North Shore marinas that offer rentals other than speedboats and jetskis. I could be wrong, though.
If you like seafood, I highly recommend Wild Alaskan, which is in Incline Village. Go for dinner, and keep your expectations of decor and such pretty low-key. But the food and service are pretty darn good.
As for restaurants---I've never been there, but people seem to love Gar Woods: www.garwoods.com
This place is my mom's favorite restaurant of all time, but I've also found she doesn't care as much about food quality if she gets to sit outside in a pretty location.
I know you said you don't have your kids with you, but there's an awesome miniature golf course in on the north side if you want to do something fun.
