I am an RN. I went on lots of interviews the past few months looking for a new position. I got offered a job at a doctors office a few weeks ago and I accepted. I'm not supposed to start till next week. The pay is significantly less than what I make now and the health benefits are just okay.
My dillema is I continued to do multiple interviews for another position for a local university. I got offered that job today. It's a nursing management position with much better pay awesome benefits and it is a position that offers major growth. All around it's a dream opportunity!
Is it morally wrong to withdraw my acceptance to the job I already accepted and take the better position? I hate that it happened this way but I feel that I have to do what is best for my career and me and my son! What do I say to the original office? I really need advice here! I don't want to be unprofessional in any way....
You have to call the place where you accepted first and talk to the physician. Be professional, and also send a thank you card in the mail for the opporunity (after you speak with him). Call him asap, so he can make other arrangements.
Definitely take the nurse manager position. It's ALWAYS better to work in a larger facility..better benefits, easier to take time off, better pay. Don't feel bad about declining the other position. Just speak to the attending, thank him for the opportunity and don't burn your bridges. Good luck with the new job!!! Congrats!
