Initially I thought you were saying that your growth for the quarter was 9.1%, which would be amazing. Some of my retirement accounts are at 15.5% while others are at 3.7% for the year. I diversity between accounts and not within to take advantage of fund classes with lower fees but it still shocks me to see such huge differences.
My 401(k) is up 6.05%. That's a pretty small part of our overall portfolio (but, because of my husband's job change and moving all of our non-401(k) portfolio from one company to another this year, the only one where it's easy to figure out the gain).
Should I think about moving the money to another investment?
You'd have to work hard to lose money in a year when the NQ is up 19.62%, S&P 14.56%, and the Dow is up 9.98%.
401k plan through work. Last few times I get so upset when I look at it. At one point it tanked so much I was considering stopping all contributions. There will be dips, some gains obviously. Limited options for retirement on our end, it is what it is I guess.
Thanks for making me look! I only checked one brokerage that holds the majority of our investments but across all accounts (not just retirement) it looks like our one-year performance is +26.1%. I'm not sure what YTD is because that's not listed for some odd reason.
Your post made me want to see our one-year performance and it's basically the same as yours! I'm pretty happy right now!

No, no, no. What is actually IN your 401k plan?
I, too, find it difficult to believe that anybody could be 5% down.
And, if you are, I want to know what to stay away from. LOL.
