I thought there was going to be a london sydney flight that was the longest ever.
I once had a 19 hour flight, but that probably doesn't count bc that was with a fueling stop. They didn't let anyone off the plane, but they did wake our asses up to get our carryon to hold on our lap. My sleeping pill haze did not like that.
The biggest benefit I have found to living in Australia so far is realizing that a US to Europe flight is a cake walk.
The first flight I can actually remember taking is Detroit-Seoul when I was 15 -- it was 14 hours, and we had a layover and a flight to HK after that. I seriously don't understand people whining about flights less than 9 hours.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain

Yep that's one of the things that use to piss me off on the nest - no a 14 hr flight isn't long, no Sth America is not that far from the US.....people look at me horrified when I say Tokyo isn't too far away on a 9 hr flight!

So so true - I feel like all the London-US flights I used to do were just SO short when I think about it now. Try doing the 14 hour flight with a baby/toddler - ahhhh good times. I love living in Oz but OMG so don't like those flights
That's awesome and I would totally do it for the bragging rights, haha..I think I remember at one point Johannesurg to NY being the longest and I wanted to do it back then just to say I had done it..well that and to go back to SA!
