So I was looking to buy a cheap tablet for my kiddos for Christmas. I'd like to download about 4 DVDs onto it so they could also use it in the car for road trips.
How hard is it to do this or will I just have to buy the movie from a digital service (i-tunes/Amazon) to get it on there easier?
You can buy DVDs that also have digital downloads, which is super-easy to download directly to tablets simply by accessing a website and entering a code. If there isn't a digital content, you can download the DVD directly to a computer or other device and transfer it to the tablet electronically (hdmi cable or whatever works for you). Or at least that's how only-moderately-tech-savvy I do it.

Thanks, problem is we already own like 30 kid DVDs and those are some of the ones I'd like to put on the tablet for traveling.
I'm wondering if I have to actually rip the DVD to a desktop, then transfer to a tablet that is connected to that desktop or if there is an easier way for DVDs we already own. I'm guessing not.
I've done the rip and transfer. It honestly didn't take as long as I thought. I did a half-dozen the morning of my flight, along with a zillion other last minute things, and that was with glitches like "the digital copy you are attempting has an expired date of ---"

We have a huge library of DVDs so I didn't want to re-purchase them at the cost of the actual DVD. I did a trial version of Slysoft (I think it was 30 days) software and ended up just coughing up the $80 or $100 for a 2 year subscription. I figured if I just downloaded 8 movies I got my money's worth. I have downloaded a ton of stuff for our iPad. The other plus....it will convert European DVDs (region 2) so I can watch those too.
