Kept Carmel plans after all

Thanks for letting me vent all my pre-trip concerns last week. We were past the cancellation grace period, and we found big differences among forecasts. Fortunately, Accuweather was, in fact, more accurate and it's been sunny and mild. We are on day 3 and I'm glad we didn't cancel. I wouldn't pay to stay at Carmel Valley Ranch again, like another poster said. If you are super active and plan to play golf and tennis and hit the gym daily, or have your kids along, probably a solid choice. But we've spent most of our waking hours off property, so a little rental condo in town would've done fine.

Highlight of the trip so far: Point Lobos State Park. Wonderful hiking and photography opportunities.

While I'm still grumpy about abstaining from alcohol and massages, I'm glad we came.

Glad you're enjoying it! We went to Carmel for three days in July and fell in love with the city. We stayed at the Lamplighter Inn and it was great.

We loved Point Lobos too! Our favorite day was probably the day we took a drive down to Big Sur. Absolutely gorgeous place!
