I just found out that H will have off-base privileges for the entire Veterans Day weekend in November! We've decided that I will fly with our baby (who will be 4 months at that time) to go visit! I am soooooooooooo excited! Although I can't wait to see H, I am most excited about the fact that H will have some time to bond with our son. When H left, our baby slept all day, didn't really recognize faces or objects, and pretty much was a typical 2-month old. Now he laughs, smiles at me, recognizes my voice... and I'm so happy H will have a chance to see all this next month, even if it is only for a weekend.
Have fun! My H is away for six weeks right now, and I'm going to see him for a day in a couple weeks. I'm really excited!
Awesome! Do you have to fly or can you drive to his location?
For me, it will be a $500 plane ticket... but since this is our first baby, I just feel like 13 weeks is way too long for H to miss! I'm very thankful we're going to have that weekend in November together. It's definitely worth the $!
That's wonderful! If you need any hotel rec's feel free to PM me. We made a couple of trips to visit and it was totally worth it. It's a big morale booster for them, but just keep in mind how much stress he is under and he may fall asleep any second he gets even close to a comfortable bed, lol. How is he doing there?

Mangomama, you've got a PM!
H is doing really well. Much better than the first couple weeks. The initial homesickness and missing our baby is gone and he seems really focused. He is wanting to apply for a special pilot training program (ENJJPT) that is REALLY difficult to get into so he is placing really high expectations on himself -- trying to get 100% on all academic and physical exams. He is a little crazy like that, but I am proud for setting his goals so high. This past weekend, they OTs were given off-base privileges for the first time since arriving. A bunch of them volunteered to work at the Montgomery Half Marathon just so they'd have a reason to get off-base He may be receiving his orders for UPT as early as this week so I'm getting eager to find out!

You have a PM back! Your husband sounds a lot like mine! I hope he gets into that program, I know how competitive it is. I hope you hear about orders soon, we just got new ones and well...it's nice to know. Waiting is so hard!
