I'm starting to look at trips for next year for DH and I and Banff had been high our list. I'm in the early planning stages so I'm looking for suggestions of things to do/places to stay. We love hiking/being outdoors which it looks like there's a lot of.
Is it best to stay right in Banff? Any hotel recommendations are appreciated
One last question. We were thinking about going late May/early June. Is that an okay time to go? I know it won't be super warm but is the weather generally good enough to get outside without freezing? TIA!
No one has responded to your post, so ill throw in the little bit of knowledge I do have. A coworker of mine went last June and stayed at the Rimrock. She loved Banff and still talks about how much she loved the hotel.
What's your budget? If you can afford it, the two top properties in the region seem to be the Fairmont Banff and the Fairmont Lake Louise (an hour or so away).
I saw those and they look amazing. I think they're a little out of our budget. We normally don't splurge too much on hotels. We're fine with a simple place that's clean and in a convenient area. A hot tub would be nice too. I've been poking around on Expedia and it looks like we'll be able to do it for around $150 a night... maybe... We're willing to spend a little more (maybe up to $200) if it was really cool.
Lake Louise looks beautiful too! I was thinking about maybe staying a couple nights there and a couple in Banff. We'd most likely fly into Calgary. Is it worth spending any time there?
