I'm looking for a winter jacket/coat for DS. He's 7 months old but HUGE, i'll be buying a 24m size. I don't want a puffy/down jacket, I was thinking fleece. All the fleece jackets I'm finding though seem too short in the torso, which is the issue we're having with his Carter's 18m hoodie. It's constantly riding up in the back. Any recommendations? Thanks!
I know you said no puffy, but the patagonia sweater jackets are awesome - not super puffy, but the perfect thickness and can be used in cold and cooler weather.

Agreed - the Patagonia Better Sweater is awesome, and probably not too puffy to be dangerous in a carseat.
It can be worn when it's freezing, or on a cool fall day. I wear mine as I would a fleece.
We also have the 3-1 in jacket from Children's place--we got him the 18-24 month so it would last him the whole winter. It's a little big on him now but we live in Boson and this needs to last until March
