since I play violin, I have to keep my nails short always. the only time I had longish nails was for my wedding. and even then was more medium than long.
I picked medium, but it can be anywhere from medium to long, natural. My nails tend to grow really fast so I'd have to be doing them constantly to keep them shorter. Well, I consider them medium but to many people they might be kind of long? I don't know
So for people with anything other than "short" nails: if you type at work how do you do it without either chipping them or having it hurt? If I don't cut my nails after more than a few days I can feel it and it starts to bug me.
Niq: I can usually type with w/o my nails touching any keys...I guess I use the pads rather than the tips? The nails I guess kind of fit in the space between the keys? It's not something I think about; I've just always done it that way. Other people type w/ their nails if they're long.
I don't type with my fingers as perfectly curved as other people perhaps because it's not comfortable for me. I tend to type with my fingers a little higher up on home row, so that my fingernails kind of fit just above into that space between keys. Since I type a little flatter, they don't really click (at least not louder than the sound of the keys themselves) and they aren't uncomfortable at all.
I have really sensitive nail beds, so any time a nail breaks and I have to trim it so that little extra bit of finger tip is exposed, I don't like it at all. Probably partly just due to them being protected and I'm sure it would go away if I always started wearing them that short...but nails are useful! They help open packaging and more than once I've accidentally nipped the nail with a kitchen knife...instead of a finger.

I wear mine natural medium to long. I can definitely notice a difference when typing if they get TOO long. But other than that, I don't have any issues. I also wear a nail strengthener daily.
