He went to the vet twice in a month and a half and nothing is wrong with him. He is 10 years old and in great health. The vet said his bowels felt normal, heart and lungs are perfect and he even had his poop analyzed and everything came back negative. Yet, he has explosive diarrhea!!! And it's been like a month now. He still drinks and eats normally.
What do I do now? He is bothered by it (goes in his litter box to clean) plus there is liquid poop on the walls outside his litter box and on the floor.
oh no, I'm sorry. I went through this not too long ago and it's absolutely disgusting.
What food is he on? You want to make sure that it's a high quality food (no grains). Even if it's currently high quality, you may need to switch since it sounds like he's not reacting well to it. There are resources on the FAQ that can help you find a good food.
We gave my cat boiled chicken and rice for a full week; no cat food at all. After a week we slowly started introducing a high quality cat food again by mixing it with the chicken and rice a Tablespoon at a time. If the diarrhea starts up again, lay off the cat food increase until he normalizes.
That worked for my cat. Our issue was, I believe, stress from a move, and once we got his stomach settled, he was fine again. Good luck!
Thanks! Ok so it might be stress related. I sold my house and moved in with roommates with 2 other dogs and 1 cat 3 months ago. I give him high quality food. Right now he is eating Taste of the Wild (it's grain-free).
I will start the boiled chicken and rice! Thanks for the suggestion.

We use probiotics. You can buy culturelle tabs at the grocery store and mix them into the food. Our cat has a food allergy and if he eats something he is allergic to, needs some metronidazole to help his tummy out.
