Yeah, so imagine my panic when Augi started shaking and vomiting uncontrollably yesterday.
I called H and gave him a heads up, then rushed him to the vet. They checked him all out, and he has bad bacteria in his gut that made his poor belly swell to nearly twice the size. I just thought he was gaining a little weight, and I have no idea how he could have gotten it. They said it was good I brought him in immediately because if I'd waited even a day, the bacteria could have started breaking down his intestines or he could have had a real problem with dehydration. :-(
They gave him an IV of water and an injection, through the IV so it wouldn't hurt, to stop the vomiting, an antibiotic to kill the bad bacteria and he's on special food and strict feeding times for the next week. I didn't sleep well last night, constantly checking on him, but other than being hungry and tired, he seems to be fine today. He still has the bubble of fluid under his chest that could take another few days to absorb. It looks a little strange, but he doesn't seem to notice it.
I'm just hella thankful he's okay. The bill was $250, but I'll take that over him being gone any day. This is what strict savings is for.
