I am still having occassional spotting (like, one tiny bit a day, sometimes it skips a few days). You all know I'm an anxiety monster with this pregnancy. They agreed to take me in for one on Friday (even today if I wanted) at 6 weeks 4 days. But they said if there's no heartbeat, they would just bring me in next week, and wouldn't be able to call it. They didn't seem pleased with my request. Oh, yeah, I am still with the same practice just cause I had to cancel my appointment with the new one. I was figuring just stick with this place til I hear the heartbeat at least....
Am I setting myself up for more anxiety or are chances pretty good that we should see/hear something and I can know whether or not this spotting is no big deal for sure?
you won't hear the heartbeat for awhile, but you may be able to see a heartbeat now but you should be able to see a yolk sac, I believe we saw a heartbeat at 7-8 weeks and just the yolk sac at 6 weeks. I had some spotting early on too and everything turned out fine
Tough call. My theory has been "unless my doctor or body tells me otherwise, I am pregnant and everything is fine." I'd be tempted to live in a state of blissful unawareness for another week. Personally, I'd be worried about not seeing a heartbeat because it was too early.
I purposely waited until I was beyond 7w to get my viability ultrasound - it turned out my dates were off and I was only 6w2d. I was able to see a little flicker on the screen, though!
I say go this week for your own peace of mind, but don't freak out if they don't see anything yet. That said, I wouldn't be able to take this advice myself.

the heart starts beating in week 6 = but every day matters a lot - so could be 6w5d when it starts- and then you wouldn't see it. I'd wait until 7 weeks to avoid any worry.
I had US's every week from 5w on with both pg's.... with the twins at 6w2d there were no HB's... they had me come back 3 days later and there was.... it was a hard 3 days thinking i had 2 blighted ovums --- so just wait- save yourself that worry/
I'd wait--both my last 2 pregnancies had iffy first ultrasounds (which were early) which did not show what was supposed to be there. I had to return 1-1.5wks later to see if there was growth. Those weeks between were very worrisome.

I am probably in the minority, but I would wait. I would not want two early ultrasounds. If the first one was inconclusive the wait for the next one would be even worse.
