I now you're not supposed to and all. But we checked some out at the library today and oh my she's having soo much fun watching. She clapped for the first time. I've never really seen her so excited as watching these babies do baby things. Ok we are going back outside:)

So cute! D was freaking the F out yesterday for no reason and the only way to get him to stop crying was to hold him over my shoulder facing the TV. If i tried to walk around or anything he screamed. Needless to say he watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse for a good 15 minutes while I swayed back and forth staring at my kitchen

I bet he'll love the videos. It's so funny, serious baby crack. We bought her Baby Shakespeare when she was 6 months for kicks and she liked it. It kept her entertained (in her bouncer) when I needed to shower. Yesterday I borrowed Baby's First Moves and it is all babies crawling, rolling, clapping, waving, etc and she was flipping out over it. I have a shape one for next time. She has a darn cold again so I want to try and keep her upright when she's awake as much as possible to drain the yuck out so the DVD should help.

I know they say children who watch them aren't as smart as kids who do not...whatever. Beckett loved them, and he is a very bright child who has always been ahead for his age, so i'd take that with a grain of salt. It's not like you are parking your kid in front of it for hours. I'd pop Beckett in his bouncy seat, and actually be able to get to take a shower. With Maisy we used them mostly in the car, because staring at the back of a car for a lengthy car ride can't be any fun.
Tasha I have heard both experiences. I know the APA recommends no screen time until at least the age of 2, but they also recommend never falling asleep with your baby and I blew that off at night #2 in the hospital. Lol. Just like you said, we don't park in front of it all day, and she gets lots and lots of interaction all day otherwise, so I'm ok with a little bit. The music makes her dance and she's definately not zoned out. I know it's not for every one but I think a half hour here and there is ok. And if it will keep her happy in the car when she faces forward I'll be allllll over that!

You know, I only know of one mom who has completely kept her child screen time free for the 2 years. It's not that practical. Sometimes we need a few minutes to do something, and if it's a video involving lots of music or shows with educational content and the rest of them time they are getting lots of interaction and playtime, I don't see a problem with it personally.
