I know! I was shocked that the fares actually ended up being as advertised too.
I booked to go to ATL to visit my grandpa, but now I'm tempted to figure out somewhere else to go. Though the other super cheap destinations from LGA aren't all that appealing at this time of year (Akron? Branson? Columbus?)
Damn. My Atlanta dates are blacked out (well the return flight). And I need to know if DH can book his own flight or if the company will do it for him. Probably won't know by tomorrow night. Grrrr...
Thank you SOOOOOO much for posting this!!! I am way overdue to visit my best friend in DC and really wanted to bring my son along since she has a kiddo around the same age, but paying for a plane ticket for a 2 year old usually makes me want to vomit. This sale is awesome and I just booked both me and my son from Atl to DC round trip for $299!! I'm so excited about the visit!!
I guess they don't want anyone flying in to DC for the inauguration!
They seem to have holidays and other big flying dates blacked out, because I'm sure they'll have no trouble selling those tickets. I'm sure Airtran wants lots and lots of people flying to DC for the inauguration -- but at a much higher price.
DH thinks we need to get to ATL at 6:30 a.m. for an 8:55 a.m. flight from ATL to BOS. Help me.
Yeah that's crazy talk. I show up with less than an hr to go and I make it to my flight on time. An hour is sufficient if you aren't pre-check (faster tsa line).

Sigh, i hear ya, but I have a flight out at 6 in two weeks, the plan is to get there around 430. If it was international, probably would be leaving even earlier. Mind u trying to keep in mind traffic and the 2 hours to get to the airport. We wo't be able to pre check since we have luggage.

But just because you're choosing to do that doesn't mean it is necessary or not crazy talk. You also may want to confirm that security will be open at the time you want to arrive.

Even with bags each airport has a must arrive by time, and in Atlanta, at least for Delta, that time is 45 minutes for a domestic flight. Do I think you should arrive with 45 minutes with bags, probably not, but an hour is fine.

Agreed. And if you choose to arrive an hour and a half ahead of time, at 4:30 am, just 'cause, you really shouldn't complain about it because you're the one at fault.
It would be crazy to take a <2 month old on a trip to Florida to visit family, right?
Not crazy at all. I flew with our son as a newborn and it was really easy. I just stuck him in the Moby wrap and it was a breeze. I'm more worried about flying with him now that he's 2 and throws tantrums, can run off, etc.

Ditto this. We took DD cross-country to two different states (over 2 weeks) to visit both sets of grandparents when she was about 2.5 months old. She actually slept the vast majority of the time we were on the plane, even though she was not a good napper at home -- the sound of jet engines is magic white noise!

I live in Atlanta and always plan to get to the airport 1.5 hours ahead of my flight. An hour ahead of time can be cutting it close. Sometimes I end up sitting at the gate for an hour, but there have been plenty of times that I was glad I allowed that much time. It's a very big and busy airport and sometimes shit comes up that causes delay.

Once I started using the North and South security check points I can get through in less than 30 min (usually no more than 15 min). The main security entrance is always a crap-shoot.

Agreed. My guess is very early morning, unless its a Monday, would be a breeze...
