Hotels near JFK Airport

Long story short... DH's grandmother is not doing very well, she is at North Shore Hospital in LI. DH's grandfather lives in Howard Beach, Queens... we need a hotel between the two of them, so that we can spend time with both of them and help his grandfather when not at the hospital. I thought hotels near JFK, but none of the hotels seem to have good reviews.

Can you recommend a MM hotel in between the two? We thought about just driving back and forth but we are in PA and it's about a 2 1/2 drive each way.
