H and I would like to take a 4 or 5 night vacation in November or December. We'd like to spend $2500 or less including flights out of Boston and go somewhere warm. We could sit on a beach/at a pool all week or do some sort of combination of relaxing and driving/sightseeing/city.
We thought about Excellence Punta Cana (would be right around $2500) or going to San Diego/LA, which I'm estimating would be $1900 for flights, car rental and hotel. We would still need money for food, drinks, activities. I am worried it might be a long flight for just a few days but would be willing to still go.
Should we do either of those? Something else? Any suggestions?
I always reco Puerto Rico that time of year. I don't know if it would fit in your budget at all, but I would look into it. I like that you can get the combination of beach & sight-seeing in San Juan, that Vieques is a short ferry ride or quick flight away, and that you can drive around the whole island in about 2 hours (more if you stop, of course).
I don't know about Boston, but JetBlue flies to PR from NY pretty cheaply.
