The end didn't surprise me at all. That isn't exactly what I expected, but I did expect that something was going to go wrong with the adoption. I think they are nuts anyway to even consider adopting given their health conditions - especially Cathy's. I'd be surprised if they could pass a home study.

I'm kind of indifferent about the entire episode. I'm also getting tired of Adam's storyline with the church and religious girl.
