No advice as both of my kids were like this until six months old.
Hopefully you will have better luck. Just when I starts to think I could not take it, they both started napping in the crib. I just kept trying to put them down and keeping my fingers crossed they would stay asleep until one day it worked.
DS is four weeks old. He sleeps fine in his cradle at night and has a good sense of day and night. The problem is napping. He will only sleep for long periods of time if he is being held. If I put him into his cradle, or bouncer he will wake up within five minutes. I will pick him up and calm him and he will fall back asleep on me and rinse and repeat. We swaddle at night and that works great. However during the day, it doesn't.
At night and napping on a person he is an excellent sleeper. Any suggestions, I don't know what to do.
No advice, just sympathy. B is 3 months and still like this.
We were like this for a while. He still kind of is but that is my fault, I let him nap on me because it is just easier and I like it haha. We tried the baby whisperer's way for a while - basically you pick him up, soothe him, and put him back down while still awake. Then when he starts fussing again pick him up, soothe him, put him back down. She suggests counting this which I did and that helped. Usually by about the 7th time he would fall asleep. The counting helps you feel that it isnt going on forever. I would feel like I had gone in there a billion times but it was really only 7.

Yup, for me this is just par for the course. They are so used to being near you that that is what calms them. My baby ktan and ring sling helped immensely! Good luck to you
DS napped like this until he was 14 months old (during weekends, when he was home with me). I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that this was totally my fault. I loved every minute of it, and I got a lot of reading done!
(Having said that, I did regret, sometimes, not forcing the issue. He did fine in the crib at daycare, and she never even swaddled him).

DS still naps like that at 3.5 months. If he is REALLY asleep I can put him down in something stationary and he will maybe sleep 30-45 mins. He does good in his swing too, but has to be almost asleep before we can put him in it.

I let her fall asleep on me and the moved her to a moving chair (in the start, the vibrating chair, later in the swing) it worked 50% of the time. We also took lots of walks. She slept in the stroller.
Have you tried swaddling for naps too? Until 5 months, I swaddled DS, rocked him to sleep, and put him down in the crib. I still do this now but with him wearing a sleep sack. I still hold him for about 30% of his naps though, because I like the snuggles and GBCN time :-) Hooray for sleeping well at night at 4 weeks! That is AWESOME. I would just replicate whatever you do at night for naps. But it is sooooo normal for little babies to want to be held when they nap. Enjoy it! It goes by so fast, then your snuggly time is over ;-(
This is why my house is currently a disaster She's currently into hour 2 of this nap. I have GBCNed and watched half of "Bend It Like Beckham." It's like the best excuse ever.
