I was talking to my mom on the phone last night and mentioned our upcoming trip to Hawaii.. She said something along the lines of "Hey! Since it's my 50th birthday in a few months you should bring Dad and I along". She was joking, just to be clear.
I forgot she was turning 50. Her birthday is January 1st, I won't be able to be there, I am already planning to be home for Christmas, DH and I live a few plane rides away.
So, between me and my 3 brothers we need to come up with a nice gift but I don't know what.. I was thinking maybe a cruise (would involve 2 plane tix plus a cruise for 2 if we do this), my parents live in South Dakota. We could probably combine this with my parents christmas gift. I don't know what vacation time is like though. I was also thinking about just a plane ticket for my mom to fly out to me and we can have a nice girls weekend/week. I think she would like that, we don't see each other too often, but that also might benefit me more than her...
Thoughts?? I can't believe I forgot and I feel really bad.
talk to you dad...maybe he's planning on taking her away and you can contribute?
I will, but I really doubt he is planning any type of getaway. He would have mentioned it to me my now. I could see him doing a party, they don't really "do" trips honestly.
If you're worried about vacation days maybe you and your siblings can plan a weekend getaway instead of a full vacation. You could include gift certificates to various activities or restaurants in the area.
We threw a surprise party for my MIL's 70th birthday. She loves having people over for big dinners and was ecstatic that so many people came to the party. Is there anything in particular your mom likes doing? I like the plane ticket idea.
