My mom bought us a down comforter last year but I haven't used it yet because we don't have a cover for it. We have a queen bed but she bought us a king comforter. I've been browsing on the websites for Macy's, Overstock, B&B, LL Bean, Lands End, and Amazon, and everything is either fug or $$$. Or it comes in a king-size set for everything.
We've only ever bought those "bed in a bag" sets that come with everything, so I'm a little clueless about piecing together my own bed set. I'm guessing that I just buy a duvet cover I like for the down comforter, and then I buy sheets and a bed skirt that complement it?
Budget: maybe $250-300 for everything? I figured if we splurge a bit on the duvet cover, we can get basic neutral MM sheets somewhere. I have Macy's coupons and a charge card which is why I'm looking there.
Also, check out Home Goods. They sometimes have some great options. They are a good place for sheets and accessories too.
Also, if you like any of the bedding from PB, C&B, or Restoration Hardware, check out ebay. I've seen some really nice sets on there, brand new for really good prices.
I have two covers both from Bed, Bath and Beyond. One is white so it goes with all our existed sheet sets and the other is a green stripey-design that I use with our ivory and brown sheet sets. I don't remember how much I spent on those, but it couldn't have been too much, because I'm pretty cheap, lol.
But IDK if it'd coordinate, or if it'd be too busy with the stripe pattern on the duvet cover. And then I'd have to get a bedskirt as well and IDK if a plain white one would look right.

If you really want MM duvets, Ikea and Target. Target has some duvet sets on sale this week. I've had good luck finding MM high thread count sheets at Ross.
I personally prefer a printed duvet with solid sheets, but the first combination would work. I think that a white bedskirt would stand out too much though.

I am struggling with finding the right one for my bedroom right now as well.
check out The Company Store www.thecompanystore.com I bought one a Kohl's and then returned it once I got it on the bed. JCPenney has some as well (online selection is much much better than instore)
Ours is Pottery Barn. If you sign up for their emails, you can usually snag a 10-20% code pretty regularly. It's lasted really, really well and is washable, which is good with a golden retriever in the house.
Fair warning though, PB is OBNOXIOUS with their emails. Like ever. God. Damn. Day.

Bed bath and beyond usually has good clearance items combined with their easy to obtain 20% off coupon you can get a good deal. For duvet we have a neutral medium dark blue (hard to describe) with a similar green sheets and pillow cases. Blue bed skirt. Just coordinate, no reason to be matchy matchy lol
