Hi! I'm really trying to limit my time here so I can focus on my new job, but it's so haaard. I did manage to get a draft of a manuscript done and out to coauthors, and check some other things off of my to do list.
Good. This week is busy, though. I have an exam tomorrow and spent most of the day yesterday writing it. I got home at 9:45 pm and had two hours of grading to do. H started whining and told me that he felt neglected. WTF?

I just spent the last 2 1/2 hours in an exam. It was only supposed to go 75 minutes but the professor booked an extra room to give us extra time to work on it. It was nice of him but sometimes I just want to be put out of my misery and hope for the best on the curve.

Ugh. I have been there. I remember waiting for someone to leave the exam so that I could give myself permission to give up on it. LOL

This is why I missed exams towards the end of grad school. At least with exams, you study, study, study, and then take the test and walk out done. With take-home/ final projects, you can always tweak it up to the last minute. Gah. I'd rather just be done!
I forget if you are tenure track or pure teaching, and that inpacts the duration of the dismal-ness of the reply I want to write.
When students ask me to give them make-up exams, I always want to ask them "Do you realize that it takes me longer to write a good exam than you will spend studying for and taking said exam?" but I never do.
I do agree that as a student I would much rather take an in-class exam than a take-home. In-class is easier to grade, too.
