They did a blood test to test for a marker in her blood and she does have cancer. The Dr. said that it is S4 on her kidney and on her lungs...her lungs are "riddled" with nodules. They are not doing chemo or radiation because she is very weak from age and not eating and the Dr. said that would most likely kill her. They are not biopsy-ing anything either as the risk is just the same. Because they are not/cannot do a biopsy, they cannot tell us how long she has.
My mom met with the Hospice people and they will be taking care of my grandma at the memory rehab facility where she has lived for the past 3 years. They are not telling her that she has cancer because 1) she wouldn't remember it and 2) all the words and things would just confuse her.
Please send more peace to my mother (who has been taking care of her for a long time now) and to my sister and I. That's my "mawmaw" and I hope that her "transition" just goes smoothly.
