So.... DH jumped in the pool fully clothed to get a little boy who can't swim. The little boy is fine, which is the most important thing.
But he had his phone in his pocket, which isn't a big deal but he had 100s of picks of DD on it since she was a newborn :/ any tips or success stories? We have it in a bag of rice....Even if we could just salvage the pics....
leave it in rice for as long as possible and do not turn it on to test it.
I suggest the same thing. My friend dropped hers in the river and it took about 5 minutes to find it and get it out. They replaced her battery (bc she tried to turn it on) and it works perfectly fine.
Glad the boy is safe and kudos to your husband. When I stuck my phone in a humidifier overnight, I stuck it in a "rice coffin" for about 4 days and it worked okay.

Mine has been resurrected twice with the bag of rice. Once DS threw it in the bathtub full of water, another time it fell in a wading pool. There's hope! Good for your DH!

DH's iPod went through the washing machine and the rice trick worked. I would leave it in for more than 48 hours and make sure the bag is open so the rice is exposed to air. If that doesn't work, take it to the apple store and see if they can do anything to save the phone or the pics.
The price might be kind of steep, but it might be worth it if they can get back your DD's pictures? It can't hurt to ask them how much it might run. Link to their website here: www.drivesaversdatarecovery.com/
I has iphoneaid.com resurrect an iPhone that rice couldn't. Cost me about $100. They are local to me so I could drop off and pick up, but they do shipping, too.
my friend dropped her phone in the pool for about 5 minutes before realizing it 2 summers ago. She put it in rice and it worked for over a year longer.
