I have 2 because I am CRAZY about SIDS.
Monitor #1- Angelcare movement monitor. Cost $79 on amazon I believe. Gives me lots of piece of mind but is also annoying with false alarms. Once we figured out the settings we stopped getting the false alarms.
Monitor #2- Motorola 2.8' video monitor. I love it. The picture quality it awesome (heard the picture quality on the angelcare sucked), has the ability to add another camera for future kids, microphone option for when my son is older. Helps a lot now that we have sleep trained because we can see when he is really crying or just fussying/ putting himself to sleep. Costs $149 on amazon.

I had a Snuza Go when he was really little and still sleeping in our room (used until he was 6 mos). I also have an Angelcare audio only monitor and it is a lot better than the Fisher Price audio monitor it replaced. I wanted a video monitor, but we live in a tiny house and didn't think it was a need. If I got a video monitor, I would have gotten the Motorola.
Lurker here but I have the same Motorola video monitor as the previous poster. We love it and think its worth every penny. We didn't have it with our first but got it when we moved to a bigger house when we had our second. Love that you can have multiple cameras and wished we'd had it when our first was a baby.
We bought walkie talkies w/ hands free after realizing the the only time we need a monitor, it's nice to not need to plug anything in. I mostly use it when he falls asleep in the car so I can leave him in the garage. I also found that normal monitors have really short range, so the whole "we'll use it if we go outside" thing was not happening. They were about $50. Before that, we didn't have anything and didn't miss it. I never wanted an Angelcare or video and won't buy one for the next baby.
