Ugh! The movers just arrived to start packing everything for our move (not PCS but our rental was foreclosed on so we have to move to a new house...thank you military for picking up the tab!). I am so thankful I don't have to deal with the packing and moving part but I hate hate hate having strangers go through and handle everything I own! I feel like I need to apologize for things like the messy playroom closet or our kitchen junk drawer! . I know they have seen much worse but I still feel so on display!
Plus keeping a 2yr old from getting in their way is exhausting!!!
It was two older ladies (easily early 60s) who showed up almost an hour and a half late. Then they were so slow it took all day to pack the boxes (we do not have much! Our last PCS the movers packed, disassembled, and loaded the truck in 4hrs!). They also missed a bunch I random little things that I'm just now finding. Guess I'm going to have to deal with that later.
The biggest thing that bugged me is they started digging through my toss/donate pile in the garage (making a big mess) and taking things for themselves! WTH?!?! I know it was headed for the trash but still!!!!
I was also informed it is an all female company. We have a lot of heavy furniture and it is going in a 2 story house.....kinda interested in how this goes (I know that sounds sexist but I can't getting some if this stuff upstairs without some strong men).
I look forward to my evaluation through the housing office!
Wow, I've never heard of an all female moving company. Sounds interesting! If a little ineffective for big furniture, but interesting. ^_^
We just moved from Cali to Texas, the move was so unorganized, but we got here in one piece. They boxed literally everything. We'd prepped for the move as usual, but the typical approach we expected them to use was to saran wrap drawers shut and transport them with items inside them. So I left all my "I don't want them to touch these things" items in the drawers. But they apparently have a new way of packing, they emptied out all the drawers into boxes instead! If I'd have known... *sigh*... but thats just how things go. I'm sure they've seen a lot worse than what I've got. ^_^
