as a way of "giving me a break" from cooking. It's not a break to me at all. I still have to plan the meal, buy all the groceries for it, make all the sides.
meanwhile, he gets to sit outside by the grill, drinking a beer while I'm trying to get the other stuff done while also watching the toddler.
He feels bad that he has a kickball game on Sunday that will take up about 3 hours of our morning. So "to make it up to me" he suggested he grill out on Sunday night. Um, thanks but no thanks.
Ummm yeah that does not sound fun! Why don't you say "Ok I would love to grill out, but YOU have to do everything while I sit outside and drink a beer"

My H takes his grilling very seriously and will not let me help out with a grilling meal because it requires his "special" touch. I love when he grills out.

lol. I wish I could. Our grill is downstairs on the back patio. Not accessible from the top floor where the kitchen is- logistically it's a nightmare to try and do both.

You are doing it wrong. When H grills, it is a break for me even though I do the sides. I open a can of baked beans and a bag of chips: done. Then I go have a beer and watch him grill.

He can make all the sides on the grill. Baked (grilled) Potatoes and asparagus. Yum! Don't make sides in the kitchen. Sit outside and enjoy your beer dammit!

This is why I look forward to nice weather. During the summer I only have to cook 1 or 2 meals a week and DH handles the rest. To him, grilling is super serious bizness

My husband does this all the time once the weather turns nice, and insists on inviting random people over. Not that I don't love to socialize and entertain, but having a bbq means I have to menu plan, get the food, prepare the food, clean the kitchen, clean the deck, and wrangle the kids during all this.
He buys the booze, grills the meat, and gets all the glory.
