I'm trying to answer some of these breastfeeding, etc., posts and I realize I don't remember a thing about it. So, let's get the toddler crowd in here. As much as I try to steer DS toward educational programming, the damn Netflix recommendations are working against me. Any kids' t.v. shows you like better than others? So far I like:
SuperWHY! Sesame Street (always) Ni Hao Kai-Lan Doc McStuffins
Some friends on a mommy board I'm on are really into Imagination Movers but I saw a few minutes of that and both DS and I were like, "Boring!"
And, if you're coming in to say, "We don't let our toddler watch t.v." -- zip it.

Sesame Street and Super Why are my favorites. I don't mind Caillou. We really don't leave the Sprout Channel or PBS. I'd like to watch Yo Gabba Gabba and the Backyardigans, but we don't have Nick Jr.
Unfortunately Thomas and Friends is DS' favorite, but I'd be happy to never watch it again. Those trains are always doing the same stupid stuff.
oh, and even though DD can take it or leave it, *I* think Sid the Science Kid (PBS) is absolutely adorable. I should remember to DVR it- DD doesnt watch it much because we usually aren't home.
DS2 loves Little Einsteins, Dora, Diego, Fireman Sam, Curious George, and Jake and the Neverland Pirates. My older son liked Cat and the Hat, Berenstain Bears, Super Why, and Little Bill when he was a little younger. I can tolerate any of those.
Neither of my kids has liked Sesame Street, Imagination Movers, or Yo Gabba Gabba.

The kids' favorites are Bubble Guppies (favorite), Dora, and Thomas. They'll tolerate Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Yo Gabba Gabba, and a few others, but always beg for their favorites after watching these shows, as if they've been punished by having to suffer through Mickey Mouse.
My DD likes SuperWHY, Dinosaur Train, Cat in the Hat and sometimes Curious George. I really like Peep and the Big Wide World, but she doesn't seem to be into that one. She also likes some of the Disney shows - Mickey Mouse, Jake and the Neverland Pirates and Chuggington (I think Chuggington is super annoying).

Ooh, I'll have to look out for that one! DS burns out on shows really quickly. He went through phases for Dora, Diego, Backyardigans, Thomas, Chuggington, etc. but when he's done with them he's D.O.N.E. Basically as soon as I load some on the iPad he never wants to see them again.

Most days we watch at least one or two of these. We also sometimes watch yo gabba gabba and Bubble Guppies, but not regularly. We will watch sesame street sometimes, but DS sometimes gets bored because it is an hour long, and he really just wants to watch Elmo.
Oh, I forgot about Sid the Science Kid. We haven't watched it in ages, but DS1 used to like it. I should turn it on for DS2 soon.
DS1 went through a big dinosaur obsession around age 3-4, and he loved both Dinosaur Train and Dino Dan during that time. Those are both cute and educational (I cannot tell you how much information my kid memorized about dinosaurs, largely from those shows). DS1 loves nature shows, too. There is a kid nature show with the Crocodile Hunter's daughter that he used to love.

weird. DD wants to see the same episodes over and over and over. If I had $1 for every time she asked to see Dora and the Mermaids, I could retire.

OMG, DS1 was obsessed with that damn mermaid episode for ages! "Yummy gummy fishy fruity treats! That's the stuff that mermaids love to eat!" And now I will have that song going through my head for the rest of the day!

He's like that with books, too. He wants "Curious George Goes Camping" every night for two months, and then all of a sudden its "Green Eggs and Ham" every night for two months. He's going to be one of those serial hobbyist adults who is like, "I'm going to be a photographer!" and spends $1000 on cameras and then a few months later is like, "I want to be a competitive jetskier!" and gets a jetski, etc.

I'll put in a strong plug for Ni Hao Kai-Lan. People describe it as Dora with Chinese (Mandarin, I assume) instead of Spanish sprinkled in, but it's much more focused on processing emotions, friendships, etc. DS was actually watching it the other day and said, "Sometimes I get a little frustrated when..."

By far, DS's favorite show is Martha Speaks. Luckily, I think it's a pretty cute show. We have over 70 episodes DVRed. We also have 15 episodes on my old iPhone to use on long car trips. What can I say? I don't want to watch the same episodes all the time.
Here he is with his stuffed Martha toy.
I don't mind Sesame Street or Super Why. I'll go against the grain and say that I can't stand Dinosaur Train or Sid the Science Kid.

Yes DD loves this too, but never asks for it. However, if its on tv, she is glued to it.
DD's favorite shows are: Dora The Explorer Yo Gabba Gabba SuperWhy Doc McStuffins Jake and The Neverland Pirates Micky Mouse Clubhouse
Yes, she watches a lot of tv. Suck it. She's brillant.
DD's list of favorite shows would be the same, except she's kind of outgrown YGG. She likes The Cat In The Hat. She also watches a lot of TV, and she's also brilliant, so I hear you Cosmos!

My favorite kiddie shows are: Little Einsteins Super WHY Sesame Street Word World Dinosaur Train
My DD is obsessed with Little Einsteins (so much so that she constantly "talks" to Leo as if he's her imaginary friend) and loves Super Why. She says she likes Sesame Street, but doesn't really watch it when I turn it on. She used to like Dinosaur Train, but I think she's over it.
She also really likes (and I don't mind): Poppy Cat (another PBS show) Doc McStuffins Thomas Chuggington (this is her newest "discovery")
She likes and I find annoying: Angelina Ballerina (the fake British accent drives me batty) Dora (although, I think she's only seen this a couple times) Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (except I like the hot dog song )
I won't even turn on for her: Barney Bubble Guppies (she saw it once, and now she's thankfully forgotten it)

My girls love Nick Jr, pretty much any of the shows on there too. DD2 is currently obsessed with Dora. DD1 has been requesting Disney Jr a lot lately.
They watch Netflix too. The favorites on there are Caillou and Spiderman.
I am annoyed with Nick Jr lately though. They recently changed their programming to include product commercials. I loved the fact that they never had them before, but now my girls are constantly saying "I want that!" through all the darn commercials. Oh, and the Nick Mom thing that they put on at 10pm now-really, what mom watches that crap?! Just put the kids' shows back on already!

I tried to get DD to watch Ni Hao Ki Lan (I hope I spelled that right) after I was so impressed that my friend's 3 year old was telling me Mandarin words!
But she wouldn't watch it!
She also just watched Blue's Clues for the first time when she was sick last week. I found it incredibly boring, but not awful like some of the shows I won't let her watch!

I AM SO MAD ABOUT THE COMMERCIALS. Every time they show that fucking Dora gymnastics or Dora on the pony, DD whines that she wants it. OMFG.
The 10 pm thing doesn't bother me, DD isn't up watching tv then. I haven't watched it but whatever.
