I used to love the Backyardigans, but DD lost interest in them (she's now 4). I really thought their songs were zippy and clever. Bonus, they were dubbed in Spanish and were just as awesome in Spanish as in English.
I am annoyed with Nick Jr lately though. They recently changed their programming to include product commercials. I loved the fact that they never had them before, but now my girls are constantly saying "I want that!" through all the darn commercials. Oh, and the Nick Mom thing that they put on at 10pm now-really, what mom watches that crap?! Just put the kids' shows back on already!
We didn't have cable in the US. This was the beauty of the Roku box (we streamed Netflix shows)- no commercials!
I'd also add that Cloe's Closet comes in 10-12 minute episodes. It's a nice option from OnDemand when we want a short show. Especially in the morning. Fireman Sam is also short with a really nice message.
We have 53 episodes of Backyardigans on our DVR. There used to be more. It was our favorite when he was little with the music and dancing. People used to comment on his vocabulary and I think it is that show versus books that helped it. Now he watches a lot of Disney Jr on the iPad app. Little Einsteins, Doc McStuffins and Jake are his favorites. Nick junior is sometimes on too. He likes Dora, Diego, etc but we find them annoying.

DS watches penguins of Madagascar, spiderman, and phineas and ferb. Thankfully he seems to have outgrown a lot of the shows that really grated on my nerves (ie Bubble guppies).

DD likes Fresh Beat Band, Backyardigans, Wonder Pets and Yo Gabba Gabba (though not as much as a year ago when she was Foofa for Halloween).
DS will watch with his sister, but has mostly outgrown those shows in favor of Phineas and Ferb, Jessie or other Disney shows. He also likes Wild Kratts and My Little Pony
DD only watches PBS and Sprout, with the occasional foray into another show for about 3 minutes. On the non-PBS front, we love Mike the Knight.
From what we do watch, we're big fans of Peep and the Big Wide World, Pocoyo, and the Pajanimals. I want to stab the Wiggles, Barney, and Kipper with a sharp implement. DD can't get enough of Caillou (ugh). She's getting more into Super WHY, and she's always like Curious George. We liked Dinosaur Train for a while (esp with the adoption theme), but it's losing its luster.
And I'm a fan of Wild Kratts and a local show whose name escapes me.

I like watching Wild Kratts because I have a strange crush on the Kratt brothers. And I like the animals at the end. Ha!

I'm pretty lazy about the TV and don't worry about it being educational since they don't watch too much. We don't have a DVR and only recently got Netflix so we usually let them watch whatever is on in the evening for about half an hour. They love Caillou and Toopy & Binoo. DD loves Max and Ruby.
Some of these shows sound great though and I should check them out.
One of my twins very little interest in TV. If I turn it on, the other 2 kids are glued to the set while he watches for a minute and then wanders around playing with other things.
We don't have cable, only the roku for netflix and amazon.
Dora is our oldest friend. Caillou was the most important guy in the world for about 3 years - there is no episode that I have not seen. Bubble Guppies are the one show that my kids consistently agree on.
Currently Wonder Pets, Backyardigans, Dinosaur Train are all pretty hot. We've been through an Elmo phase (skipping the rest of sesame street), Cat in the Hat and Kai Lan phase.
We've also been watching a few episodes of really old Mr Rogers' Neighborhood.
And (straying slightly off topic) DD enjoyed watching Heidi with Shirley Temple though she still asks why they took the color of it. They also both like watching Matilda - our first non-animated movie that holds their interest!

Blue's Clues fans here. We don't let DD watch it a lot (she's only 10 months old) but it is good for 15-25 minutes of peace when we do. I don't mind it at all -- and I'm not going to lie, I teared up during the episode when Steve went off to college. We record it on the Tivo, so no commercials.
We don't have cable, so Netlix and Amazon Prime for us(plus PBS Kids)
Super Why Pocoyo Veggie Tales(we are not religious, but spiritual, but he loooves Bob and Larry!) Blue's Clues on occasion Thomas (sometimes).
He also loves watching Cars, Cars 2, Finding Nemo, and Milo and Otis(he only watches 20-30 minutes, and then plays). The Tv is only on for no more than an hour a day when he is awake.
DD adores Team Umizoomi. Asks for it more than anything else. She also really likes Dora, Ni Hao Kai-lan, Bubble Guppies & Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. Super Why is an intermittent favorite, and she like Curious George well enough. She's really liked Franklin lately, too.
I just asked her what her favorite is, and she said "Team Umizoomi, actually. Them better then Dora." High praise from a 28 month old!
I love Super Why, Word World & Sid the Science Kid, so I try to encourage those

Sid the Science Kid is the one that gets DS talking. He told DH ALLLLL about air pollution when he got home today. I also love Sid's family (including his stoner Grandma).
What I've seen of Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood has been cute.
Forgot that one. DD is entranced, and it's helped with potty training. Score!
My daughter thinks Daniel Tiger is the best show she has ever seen. I find it a little too sweet, but she loves it. She sings "grown-ups come back" to one of her friends every morning when he cries about being left at school.

I like Yo Gabba Gabba, Sesame Street, Sid the Science Kid, and Backyardigans. DD also used to like Dora, Go Diego Go, and Wonder Pets, but they drive me crazy. Caillou is my least favorite. DH likes Bobby's World. Other ones she watches: Super Why!, Curious George (her fav), the Busy World of Richard Scarry (another fav), and Dragon Tales. There is some turtle movie on Netflix that she loves.

DD is just starting to watch TV. She never had much interest until we went on a road trip and let her watch shows on the ipad during the trip.
Her favorite is called Wonderpets. I think DH bought all the episodes on iTunes. She also likes Sesame Street (elmo and zoe).
Mostly, she just watched youtube clips. She likes the Sesame Street music clips, specifically Feist's 1234 and India's ABC. She also likes Barney, but just the songs.
I don't have a favorite at this point, but DH and his friends love Nina on Sprouts Goodnight show. Mostly because they're pervs.
Bubble Guppies, Yo Gabba Gabba and Fresh Beat Band are my gal's fav. (She just turned 4.) She likes Imagination Movers, & Gaspard & Lisa occasionally. She's just started asking for Strawberry Shortcake & My Little Ponies, but the HUB network has the most obnoxious product ads ever so I try to avoid it.

Dd turned on My Little Ponies the other day and it was just awful. Even she was like wtf is this crap and turned the channel. I really like Netflix since I can put it on the kids Netflix. She can handle the controller and won't accidentally stumble on something inappropriate. Plus they don't have commercials.
