Since it's a little slow in here today ... How was your weekend? Did you do anything fantastic or read anything we all need to know about?
I barely read this weekend. It was supposed to be nice and quite and ended up crazy. I did get a lot of knitting done at my cousins graduation though which was a major score.
I didnt read at all this weekend. Saturday was filled with cleaning our deck and setting up our furniture outside, watching the Ranger game and cleaning.
We stayed at my mom's this weekend, which was really nice. It was the weekend in between her birthday and mine. Went to a fun plant sale to get stuff for our garden. I just finished reading An Uncommon Education by Elizabeth Percer and I agree with a few other Goodreads reviewers who felt like they ought to have liked it much more than they did.

Weekend was good. Didn't get much reading done, but that's because the H and I were at a book festival all day on Saturday. We saw some great authors (Stewart O'Nan, Keith Donohue) and volunteered at our online review's booth for a couple of hours. Also, the founder of the festival asked us each to introduce an author--that was pretty damn cool. I was nervous as hell but made it work. Hopefully I get asked to introduce next year, too.
It was pretty lowkey, and I didn't do any reading. Saturday we did errands and just sat around, and Sunday I had some work to do. My husband is reading the latest Michael Lewis book and seems to be enjoying it.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain
I finally went to the library and renewed my library card. I borrowed my first ebook but I'm not liking it so far. I borrowed The Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova. So far the story is really slow and there is too much detail.
I didn't do anything fun this weekend. It was mostly spent babysitting my dog who has to wear one of those cone collars and she is just very unhappy about it. I should be able to get some funny pictures out it though.
DH and I both had to work Saturday, so nothing exciting then. I did read a little of If You Lived Here, I'd Know Your Name: Notes from Small-Town Alaska. Mostly, though, we were both so exhausted that we ate pizza, watched Swamp People, and went to bed and slept for 11 hours straight-- and still could have slept more!
Sunday was church and then staining and putting polyurethane on the upstairs floors at the house. At least I got to listen to a lot more of Feed, which I wish I were enjoying as much as every other person on the planet who's read it.
I read more than I usually do on weekends. I finished Moloka'i on Saturday and started The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest last night. I spent 40 minutes in a chat with barnes and noble customer service yesterday. Apparently, there was something wrong with my Nook registration, so I had to unregister and register it again. It works now, but my slow WiFi didn't help.

Friday night we decided to go out and run all our weekend errands. Saturday I had to work and it was a bad day. DH went to a friend's party, so I had the house to myself to calm back down. Sunday we did housework all day until DH's softball game.
I only read about 50 pages this weekend. I'm hoping to read for a while after I get home from work tonight.

We had friends in town from Thursday through Sunday - had a great weekend with them but did not get much reading done. Started "Nothing Like it in the World: The Men Who Built the Transcontinental Railroad" by Stephen Ambrose on the train this morning.

Um ya this all sounds amazing. What book festival did you go to?

Gaithersburg Book Festival in Maryland. This was my first time there--great, great event. The organizers really hit it out of the park.

I had a fabulous weekend but it was really hectic.
Friday night was grocery shopping night with DH and the girls. By the time everone eats dinner and we hit 2 stores (Target and Wegmans), we always get home late.
Saturday, DH had to work so I took the girls to the zoo parade and then ran some errands. At night, DH and I had a legacy gala to attend as a fundraiser for the school we plan to send our kids to.
Sunday, we had church and then an Angelina Ballerina dance party to take DD1 to. Afterward, we had a baptism to attend.
...I did read a little of If You Lived Here, I'd Know Your Name: Notes from Small-Town Alaska...
Not to thread-jack, but I never thought I'd see this book come up on a national board. What did you think? I really wanted to like it but in the end I wasn't thrilled. I did cry at least once, but I cry at lots of books so I don't think that says much.
I didn't read much this weekend because we had guests visiting, but I did get to recommend a couple of books to my friend!

I plan to finish it at lunch today, so I'll let you know.

I got some reading done on Friday and a ton done yesterday since i was home sick with a cold or maybe it was just major allergies. Who knows. Saturday and Sunday were way to crazy for me to get any reading done.
