So it sounds like we have lots of big readers here... anyone have any good recommendations? My most recent favorites were 11/22/63 by Stephen King and Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.
I keep hearing about Game of Thrones but know nothing about it... I'm bad at book trends but was really glad I caught up to the Hunger Games thing
I don't pay attention to trends. A co worker was talking about the book and encouraged me to read it. So worth it. It's drama, it's sex, it's sci-fi(ish), it's comedy. Great read.
I'm reading the book The Twelve. It's by Justin Cronin. It's the second book after The Passage. It's about viral vampires and such, but really really good.
I'm also a huge Chris Bohjalian fan. I recently bought his newest one The SandCastle Girls but haven't read it yet and bought Laws of Similar.
My next book to buy once I finish the 6 on my book shelf that I bought is Dennis Lehane's newest one. He writes mystery/thrillers (Shutter Island, Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone). He also wrote one of my favorites The Given Day.
I have heard The Road is good. It's a post apocalyptic story. That's my next read!
The Road is fantastic, but it's written, I don't know. I don't want to say weird, but different? If you've read any others by Cormac McCarthy then you understand what i'm trying to say
Stan! I watched that episode of Colbert last night on Hulu and immediately added that book to my wishlist. It sounds fascinating.
I wish they had had time to talk more about the idea that presidents who are former military are less likely to engage in war than civilian presidents. It's something I never thought about before and would have like to have heard more about.
I have read so much recently. - Books 1-4 of Game of Thrones -the entire Sookie Stackhouse series (which were really quick reads) -a series I started because the first book was free on Kindle called the Elemental Mysteries by Elizabeth Hunter (vampire related) -now I'm reading J.K. Rowling's new book Casual Vacancy but I'm only on chapter 2 so I don't have an overall review of that yet.

Yay! I love to read most fiction, I've read and enjoyed Game of Thrones (actually The Song of Ice and Fire series). cizzle, I loved Steven King when I was younger, but haven't read his new stuff, so you thought 11/22/63 was good? Maybe I'll give it a try. Gone Girl was really good, interesting. I have actually been on a bit of a cheesy romance kick lately. I read Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire and thought that was pretty entertaining. If anyone liked Hunger Games I read another young adult distopian society book recently called Divergent and the sequel is Insurgent by Veronica Roth.
My real nerd love is an epic fantasy series called Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan, so far there are thirteen books and the final one in the series is scheduled to come out in January. I can't wait to read the conclusion!
I just read The 19th Wife which was pretty good. I saw a book on Eisenhower I wanted to read on Colbert the other night. Ike's Bluff. Looks good.
I'm in the middle of rereading WEB Griffin's Army series...but I don't think anyone is really interested in that, lol.
I know nothing about the Ike book, but E is related to Eisenhower, cousin somewhere along the line.
I am currently reading The Wettest County in the World by Matt Bondurant, the movie Lawless is based on this book.
Books I've read recently that I really like are The Handmaid's Tale and The Book Thief (amazing). Those are the ones that are coming to mind. I really liked 11/22/63, I read that last February/March.
