Mine would be able to get most of the necessary stuff, but would forget a spare outfit or blanket to block the sun if we'll be outdoors. Nothing big, but the stuff that makes life go smoother with a newborn. So, I still go through the bag before we leave every time.
Mine is the same way. He will make sure we have a paci, Mylicon, and a bottle. But he would totally never think to make sure the wipes case has wipes in it or that there is a change of clothes.
I think he's probably forgotten something every time he did it, but I constantly forget stuff, so I can't really blame him. I try to leave a spare outfit, diaper, travel wipes and a blanket in the car.
I remembered the sunscreen yesterday but then left it on the roof of the car after we parked.
He might forget something, but I sometimes forget stuff, too. More often than not, I am the one who packs the bag if we are all going somewhere together, but I certainly don't pack it for him if he is taking the boys out alone. He has emergency diapers and wipes and a first aid kit in his car, and anything else is not really that essential.
We always keep some extra clothes in the diaper bag and rarely need them. DH is good about making sure there are diapers and wipes. His problem is that he often doesn't bring the diaper bag if he's only going to be away from the house for less than an hour.

This is how we do it too. I am certainly not checking it before he goes out, he will manage somehow, just like I do when I forget something.
He would bring 10x more than necessary. I don't even have a diaper bag. I just throw diapers and wipes in my purse and keep sunscreen in my car. I like keeping it low key

DH is not good at that kind of stuff. I've always been the planner and take over stuff like that. Plus DH is colorblind and has trouble matching outfits.
Yes. When it comes to the kids/routine household tasks, he can do everything as well as I can do. But he didn't start off that way. I had to really push him to get that experience and gain that comfort level.

He usually forgets something but I forget things on a regular basis, too. We seem to do best when we're packing it together as we ultimately always remember something that the other forgot. I think we were both better at packing for one kid vs two as there are now more things to forget.

He would remember all the essentials. He'd forget some things that could be important, but usually aren't. I try to keep it as stocked and ready as possible so he doesn't have to try and remember everything.
I'm pretty anal about the diaper bag though so he's never really packed it (even though he's said he would). So its my fault that he might forget a few things because I never let him pack it.
My DH would never be able to do it. He'd forget snacks, sippy cups, to check for diapers, etc. I leave ours packed at all times (minus filled sippy cups) and restock when we get home, so that when he has to go out on his own, it's ready. I have a ziplock bag filled with a spare outfit for each boy already in it.
Yes--but we both forgot it once & we were 2 hours from home when flybaby had a blow out. We pulled over to change him and realized it was still sitting on the table at home. Nothing like using wet paper towels and H's t-shirt until we could get 1/2 hr up the road to the nearest Target/Walmart. Thankfully we were going to my G-ma's so I was able to give him a bath and wash some fresh clothes.

Usually. I agree that he remembers the big stuff - diapers, snacks, sippy cup, pacifier. However, I usually keep the bag stocked with weather appropriate things, i.e. sun hat/winter hat/mittens, sun block, appropriate clothing change. Also, we usually make sure there are already wipes, diapers, etc. in the bag and do a quick re-stock before we go out.
I don't have kids yet (TTC), but am pretty sure the only thing my husband might remember to re-stock, are diapers. If that, lol.
I'm very detail oriented, so I'm sure I will be anal and keep it stocked.
When I nannied, I also kept a samll spare bag in the trunk. I had an extra outfit for the baby and toddler, extra wipes, diapers, granola bars, water (good for cleaning up on the fly, too), and a few large ziplock baggies for accidents or wet clothes. I suspect I will do the same with my own kiddos. Takes minutes to prep, and saved me SO much hassle when something came up unexpectedly, or when someone else left the house with the diaper bag by accident.
Nope! He watches DD a lot at home by himself, but has probably taken her out a handful of times on his own and besides diapers and maybe snack, he won't remember. Plus their outings are always short -- the park that's a few blocks, restaurant close by, stores close by -- so if she has an accident, he'd drive home. I think if he did more often, he would be better.. at least i hope!
i always repack/stock when i get home, so he hasn't had the opportunity to pack one yet...but my guess is that he would only bring diapers and wipes, and forget everything else.
