Pardon my whining, but has it been established who is permitted to alter our subject lines? Perhaps I'm making too big a deal about my earlier thread, but I really am curious.
I don't know, have no way of knowing, who changed the subject line. It seems like it was Goldie, but she never addressed it when I asked.
If you tell me she has the right to do that, no questions asked (since apparently they don't go answered), then cool. That's all I'm looking for - is an understanding. Because without knowing, it rubs me the wrong way that she can not only alter my title by just adding an @ sign, but also deleted my harmless comment that was in the original title.
Yes, it was Goldie. I sent her a message and she apologized. Personally, I think she should have done it in your thread as well. (ETA: ellie was able to tell who edited it by looking at the logs.)
All mods (except for global mods) are now restricted to only having editing powers on their boards. So any editing from here on out will either be me or the global mods.
Ellie expanded mod powers temporarily while we were electing the new global mods, so any mod could edit any board. That's changing now (not sure if it has already, but it will be) so that mods can only edit their own boards, and only global mods/admins would have that permission everywhere.
My general sense is that editing for content should only be done by a board mod, and that global mods should only be editing obvious personal info, spam, etc., on boards they aren't regulars on.
I stated "Warning, graphic verbiage. That's gonna leave a mark."
Goldie changed it to "@ Graphic verbiage"
Like an idiot.
us pregnants and former pregnants can't have our little minds warped by such stories. i know you have ruined all the joy this new baby will bring for me for the rest of my life Dyl.
i hope you are happy about that.
Lol, so sorry MW. My balls get in the way of my empathy skillz.
What the heck? What was wrong w/ Dyl's subject line? What did I miss?

Like an idiot.
This is an abuse of her power and has been my number one concern w/ the new board. In my opinion mods should only exercise the power we give them. Rogue mods should be held accountable for going off the reservation.

If mods do something like this, ( which i suppose is moot anyways due to locked powers but for argument sake) what is their repercussion? I also think its bs. Also. Holland back ( woo woo) when someone asks a question ldirectly to you after you have made such a change. You are a mod for a reason.

She added the @ symbol, but that's usually reserved for questions about parenting, right? pixy didn't include it in her washing machine thread. I also think goldie overstepped her bounds on that one.

just added or added and deleted? I am not saying she should have changed it , but I need to gauge the size of my anger/annoyance.

really? that bent out of shape over the tiny change? I apologized to pixie - i wanted to find her to ask her to change it that night - but it was late and was going to bed.
I know many women who, if pg, would really feel disgusted to read that story... the subject line was sort of a joke. I know I didn't expect a story like that based on your subject line.
I just removed the 2nd part from the subject line (and put it into the body of the post, it wasn't "deleted"... like an idiot ) and put the @ there so people would know it was about children and, as you said, graphic, etc.
So very sorry that I was really disturbed by that story - and felt the subject line made it seem like a joke... I have never before or since modified anything - and barely touched that as it was.... but again, I did apologize to Pixie - and feel bad about it- but also don't - simply b/c it was so disturbing.
"like an idiot"... ah, you really are such a people loving liberal.

I just remember it was shortened--dyl says deleted, goldie says moved to the body of the post. Either way, it was modified in an unnecessary way. The "graphic verbiage" in the title was plenty warning that it was disturbing. I don't think we should be allowing such subjective changes just because a story offends one person's sensibilities.

I think the fact that you took it upon yourself to speak for half the board was overstepping.
As a pregnent woman and mom that story didn't bother me enough to get worked up about iit but it did you. Deal with your feelings about it on your own and let others deal with it as they would.
I don't need an overly sensitive mod playing mommy for me.
Your sorry post isn't making you look better either

Come on, goldie, people from both sides jumped on pixy when she moderated HAB's etsy post. Don't make this something it's not. You overstepped, end of story.
It was an issue because it was completely unnecessary and weirdly big-brotherish. I won't defend the name-calling, but no one but you has made it a partisan issue.
You made a stupid mistake, but instead of acknowleding as much, you double-down with "meanie liberal" nonsense.
I think it was made beyond clear that the general consensus of this forum as a whole is that we only edit for spam, personal information, or at the behest of someone else. And the latter should only be in extreme circumstances like porn or whatever.
Oh, are we taking swipes at people based on their political leanings in completely non-political threads now?
who are you kidding- if I was on the left, I highly doubt this would have been such an issue. And name calling for something so minor? Please.
Are you joking? This is a horrible, non cogent argument. Dare i say retarded in intelligence People are telling you it was an issue for them..here's a suggestion: being a modmis a service job. you should value more than your own opinion and listen to those you are helping.

It is not a partisan thing. Pixy was slammed here and by other boards for her wrong in editing Habs post and for reeves. Errors happen. As for the name calling...wrong as well.
