Poor Jack He was a 12 year old yellow lab. A few months ago he had an incident where some of the muscles in his head atrophied. It looked bad but didn't affect him much.
Something happened yesterday while I was home with him. He lost all control on that side of his face, and much of the control on the otherside. He wasn't able to drink or eat, and it was really obvious he was in a lot of pain.
We knew based on his age that we'd have to face making that decision at some point. We just weren't prepare to do it yesterday. I'm second guessing our choice today
"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." - Unknown
I'm so sorry for your loss. We lost our mastiff on Wednesday. I second guessed myself that whole first couple days but I eventually realized that we did right by him. For me it's helped to live in some memories. Dig out pictures and talk about the fun and happy times. It's helped me so much and helped me realize how bad he had gotten and that I didn't want him to suffer.
You knew him better than anyone and did the right thing. That's what's I needed to hear and it's true. Ham in there, it will begin to get easier.

So very sorry. I have lost many loved ones in my life and have shed many tears, but when I lost my 14 yr old Shih Tzu, I balled for months, they live in our hearts for ever!
