Over the past 6-8 weeks there have been at least 7 cats drowned in our neighborhood. One of them was shot in the neck with a BB gun and then drowned.
This morning we found one of our neighbor's cats dead on our front yard. It was horrible. DH wrapped him up in a towel and we took him over to them and then found out that another of their cats had been drowned the week before but they didn't know what had been going on in the neighborhood. (Their third cat had been killed by stray dogs the same week, but that's another issue ).
Everyone involved suspects the same kid but there is no evidence yet. The cops have been called for every incident and today a detective is here working on it, so I really hope they can find out for sure who is doing it. It's so awful...they come and get the cats somehow, take them somewhere to drown them, and then bring them back to the area where they found them. The one we found in our yard had his collar laying next to him, clearly cut.
That is awful. Why aren't these cats being kept inside? I know my cats don't go out, unless someone broke into out house a catnaped them they couldn't get them.
That's serial killer shit. That would freak me out. Maybe people should start keeping their cats inside. I'm not sure how that works though, we don't really have outside cats here.
Do we live in the same neighborhood? I guess we've had a similar issue because there are signs posted around the neighborhood warning about cats being tortured.

How sad!! 7 is such an extensive number; that's so concerning! Hopefully they find out who it is and get that person some help before it becomes a human (not to say hurting cats isn't bad enough because I'm a huge cat lover!!!)
