Highlights: Midwest GTG! I had a really awesome time and it left me so happy. We did the Aquarium, dinner at Rainforest Cafe, swimming (I missed it, but I hear the kids had fun), and IKEA. Great to put faces with names, get to know people's partners, etc.
Also, the IKEA trip and a run to Bed, Bath, and Beyond filled in some essential organizing items and the apartment is looking better.
Lowlights: GTG made me realize we have some work to do in the local friends department. It's always hard in a new city, but I think by now C and I are clear our workplaces are not going to be where we find "our people".
And I have this work project that is overdue and was giving me actual panic attacks Friday and a little yesterday evening. Now I've calmed down and am making progress on it, but it's still overdue and I just want it done! AAARRRRGH!
High - our fabulous day in West Hartford! The weather was amazing, we ate delicious food and looked at gorgeous antique jewelry. So fun! Runner up: the insanely comfy bed at our hotel. it was like laying on a cloud.
Low - cranky toddler after we picked him up from his sleepover at my parents. runner up: getting lost on the way to CT's party - but we made it!!
Highlights: the weather. Man oh man it is was beautiful! The kids amazingly polite and sweet behavior while we were at the truck touch - they kept thanking me for bringing them! Getting everything done in the house and for the week before 4pm, so when we came in from the playground, I just had to take care of the kids and not deal with laundry, dishes, packing the kids stuff for the week, etc.
Lowlights: the kids behavior at the soccer game and immediately after. OMG. Thankfully, eating solved the issue. My crappy sleep for the last 2 nights. Last night I woke all night long with crazy ass dreams. I am exhausted.

Highlights: It was a great birthday weekend. C and the Kiddos made me a cake...the first two-layer cake ever made expressly for me :-) . I was able to laze around on Saturday and the Kiddos were in GREAT moods. C made me fruit pancakes on Saturday and French toast on Sunday. Sunday they took me out to dinner at Don Pablo's where the Kiddos got their first dough ball and first balloon. The workers also sang happy birthday to me. It was an awesome weekend!
Lowlights: It scared the crap out of Little Man when they sang me happy birthday. Poor Little dude's lip was quivering and it took over 5 minutes to lessen his fear. We think this is one reason he woke up at 10:00 pm and C struggled to get him back to sleep. Which meant, C's and my evening together ended at that time *sigh*.
Highlight: Had a really wonderful time at my bday party. Good group of people. Fun activity. Yummy food. It all fell into place very nicely.
Lowlight: I didn't do well at my first 5k. And by 'didn't do well', I mean my time was really bad. but i still dont regret doing it so this is only a moderatly low low-light.
Highlight: Our impromptu apple picking trip yesterday, the weather was crisp, the kids were doing something new, J was being so helpful, it was wonderful.
Lowlight: This sucks to say but Apple's birthday party. J and I argued toward the end of the party (inside, away from people) and her Dad got offended and won't speak to me or come to our house now. My little brother was being a pain in the butt and choked my niece, my step mom got offended and pissed because MIL told her "kids will be kids". Ugh, most of the day was good but those things killed it.
Lowlight: I didn't do well at my first 5k. And by 'didn't do well', I mean my time was really bad. but i still dont regret doing it so this is only a moderatly low low-light.
Dude. You ran/walk/hobbled/skipped/jump a 5k without dying. That is awesome in my book.
Highlight: Watching my mom play with and enjoy the babies. She loves them so much. It makes me endlessly happy to see them with my parents. And also she seemed to really like the birthday presents we got her.
Lowlight: Mr. Baby has his first real cold and he is soooo miserable We called the nurse line for advice and turns out we are already doing everything we can. On the one hand I'm glad we knew what to do, but on the other hand I wish there was some magic thing we didn't know about that would make him feel better.

Highlights: Saw a hilarious film at the LGBT film fest- Cloudburst starring Olympia Dukakis...I hope it gets a wider release, super funny and heartwarming film about an older lesbian couple. A and I spent Saturday and Sunday just being together, had dinner with some friends, watched some TV, spent time cuddled up chatting, it was bliss. A told me that she's put in for a potential work transfer that would mean a move closer to us and hopefully a less stressful/all consuming schedule.
Lowlights: A having to leave this morning and knowing that with her work schedule being what it is, we probably won't see each other for another 2 weeks.
Lowlight: I didn't do well at my first 5k. And by 'didn't do well', I mean my time was really bad. but i still dont regret doing it so this is only a moderatly low low-light.

Highlight - I won something! I never win anything. Winning a brand new City Mini stroller was awesomesauce!
Lowlight - not feeling like I accomplished enough on my business plan. I sat, and sat, and sat, at a coffee shop in front of my computer and yet I just don't feel like it's getting there. Ugh.
highlight - Saturday: getting N's first birthday pictures taken and then a little dinner party with one of our favorite couples. The food was delicious and the wine, divine.
Lowlight - N has a terrible head cold (again.) I am contemplating a lock down until spring. grr. His pictures are adorable but he smiled only a handful of times and he's too congested to nurse or sleep. Miserable

Highlight: picking out some things for the boy's surprise big boy room and getting paint chips so we can finalize the colors.
Lowlight: driving to another town to try and go to a festival, and taking an HOUR AND A HALF to go ONE MILE on the highway because of traffic--and this town literally has one exit ramp. It was awful. And I had to pee so bad, I made my wife switch places with me so I could go in a bottle in the back seat because there was absolutely nowhere on the side of the road to go and nothing that I could have walked to. The traffic was so bad and it was so crowded that we got off the highway and got right back on the other way to go home.
