Recently ElsaVonM mentioned getting bra fitted at Nordstroms. I'm looking for feedback/advice. I'm a DD or DDD cup - the last time I was measured they put me in a 36DDD. The problem is I can't wear underwire bras, and I also prefer not to wear bras that look like they were beamed here from the '50s. Do you think Nordstrom or another store that does fitting would even have anything?
I've been ordering directly from the One Hanes Place catalog, but the sizing is ALL over the map, not just from brand to brand, but bra to bra. When I go to regular stores, all the larger bras are underwire. I'd found some that are SOOOO comfy, but alas, I've been catching glimpses of myself in the mirror with the dreaded "four boobs" effect.
Ideas? Advice? Also, for ladies on the weight loss train, how often do you get remeasured as you lose?
Where did you have the last fitting done? I prefer Nordstrom/Macy's fitting over Victoria Secret's. I do think having another fitting done is probably wise, given that you've lost weight.
is there a speciality/upscale bra place near you? I have friends who swear by going to those places and getting fitted by a professional (vs a college student working in Nordies), buying 1 bra from the store and then additional bras online for a better price.
I was fitted after I stopped nursing and found the bra to be painfully uncomfortable. After that, I just started going to Kohls and taking a shit ton of bras into the fitting room and trying on until I found something that worked.
I last got fit at a super expensive specialty bra store in Michigan. I'm sure they have them here in Chicago, I'd just have to find one. Or maybe go to the one I used to go to near my mom's house - they are great.
The no underwire is what's throwing me...they can be hard to find in my size. I only stopped wearing underwires in the past year or so, so I'm not even sure what a properly fitting non-underwire should fit like. I'm obviously doing it wrong right now.
Have you tried HerRoom.com? Put in your size, then from the list on the left select Soft Cup/Wireless. They have 2300 styles in my size right now and 600 of them are Soft Cup/Wireless, so you might find something you like there.

2brides and I continue to have a lot in common. This is my strategy, though usually at Lane Bryant instead of Kohls. I also send DW back and forth to get me more and more different sizes and styles as a I eliminate them.
I also know people who swear by the fancy pancy fitting. And I would highly recommend that you look at Lane Bryant's bras, even if it's not a store you shop at or fit in their sizes for clothes. Overall I've been really happy with the quality/fit/style of their bras (and they have several with no underwire), even during the phases of my life where my body has been too small to fit in their clothes.
Also, do your bras come beamed in with Mitt Romney's social policy from the 50's? :-D

Well, it's important to have the right silhouette for seducing a man with your ability to be home from work at 5 to cook dinner and only expecting 77 cents on the dollar for your efforts.
