When SO and I woke up in the hotel yesterday morning, I felt like utter crapola. Sore red throat with pain up into my ears and temples, major muscle aches everywhere. As the day wore on, I felt a little better, but then last night I was in tears, I hurt so much, and this morning was even worse. Every muscle and joint in my body hurt, and even my SKIN hurt to the touch (felt like I had a sunburn when I touched it). I've alternated between burning up and sweating, and freezing and chills. SO exhausted. Slight nausea and no appetite. Fever. Before bed last night, I took 1000mg of Ibuprofen and rubbed down with tiger balm, and sprayed my throat with Chloroseptic like there was no tomorrow.
Sounds like the flu, right?
Nope. Urgent Care ran the strep test and flu test, and both came out negative.
They gave me 800mg of Motrin and 1000mg of Tylenol, and an hour later, my temperature had gone up another degree, which concerned them because the Motrin and Tylenol was supposed to lower it. They sent me for bloodwork and gave me antibiotics to start taking today, and said they'd call me tomorrow with the results.
I am so miserable. And I have a once-a-year training session tomorrow, where I'm going to be stuck in a small room with 6 people, and only get 3 or 4 short breaks in 8 hours (not even a full half hour for lunch, either). It hurts to sit for very long, or stand for very long, or hell, even lay for very long. I don't know how I'm even going to be able to do it, but the only excuse to miss this training is being dead. I seriously don't think I've been this sick since I had the flu for 5 days in high school.

I say you have strep. The rapid tests they do in the office don't always catch it. Did they send a test out? I had strep about a month ago and the test they did in the office was negative, but the one they sent out was positive.
I'd vote "it's viral". There's not much you can do besides rest and take Ibuprofen for the fever/pain.
I had something like that last summer....it sucked for about a week. I went in for a strep test, which came back negative, and they then checked me for mono, again negative. I could barely swallow for days and my whole body hurt.

For fuck's sake! I managed to get up and dressed and drive 20 miles to this mandatory meeting, and my manager's boss sent me home. I feel a little better, she just didn't want me to get anyone sick.
