I'm going back and forth whether I like this book or not. Right now I'm just annoyed with it. The current chapter is written in a dialect and I'm having trouble following the story.
If you aren't familiar with the book, each chapter is a different story that are all slightly related to each other. Then, about half way through, the book goes through the stories again but from the reverse and I guess it then connects the stories so it makes sense.
I'm defiantly going to finish this one but I hope it is worth it.
Are you in the middle chapter? Hawaii? That's the one I didn't like.
The book was kind of a slog, just because it was so intense and I really had to pay attention. But in general, I loved the alternative narration set up. In the end, I absolutely adored the book. That guy is a great writer.
I had a hard time with that one and the first one. I got used to the one in Hawaii eventually but I never got a good grip on the first (and last) one. Overall, I loved the book but it really did have some challenging parts for me.
I'll probably see the movie. I'm curious how they are going to do it. I'm almost done with the book (back on the Lusia Rey story) but I don't feel like I completely understand the connections yet.
