I'm so late to the party on this, but when it came out I was in grad school and just didn't have time for tv. Heard so much about how great it was, and how it being taken off the air after one season was just about the biggest mistake made by television ever. Truth.

Finally watching. I'm three episodes in and totally hooked. Any fans here? I'm already bummed there's only the one season.

ME!!! It's one of my favorite shows ever! Don't watch the movie until after you finish the series, though, otherwise you'll be confused by some things. I love Joss Whedon. He directed The Avengers, so you'll probably like that too, if you haven't seen it yet.

Oh, and Mal is part of the reason we may name a future son Malcolm. So I can call him Mal.

AND, if you watch Castle, there are a ton of Firefly references throughout because of Nathan Fillion.

I liked it, but I didn't love it like some others do. I just couldn't get into the Western aspects of the show as much. I liked the characters a lot. Wash is my favorite!

Make sure that you are watching them in their intended order and not the order in which they aired on tv.

I'm a huge fan too but didn't discover them until last year.

I LOVE firefly! When a friend first suggested it to me I was like "yeah, not going to watch it. A western sci-fi? No thanks." I think if they would have given it more time, and did more promos it wouldn't have been cancelled.

I love the entire cast. I thought they had a good mix. They were all crazy-cakes in their own way, but I LOVED that about them!

Such a great show, and such a shame it has so few episodes. I've watched it several times and it never gets old!

I'm with you. My friend recommended it so highly, but i wasn't that impressed. Maybe she oversold it. I liked the doctor's storyline and it seemed like it was just getting good when it ended. But there are definitely series I like a lot more than Firefly.

My DH loves it and made me watch it. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it, I haven't seen the movie yet though. I do love all the references they drop in castle

I kinda love that aspect of it. It's a little like the Star Wars "Long ago in a galaxy far away."

The show is fabulous. I actually saw the movie first and liked it so much I watched the entire series. Then went out and bought it so I could watch it over and over again.

Love Firefly! It's one of the few series I can watch again and again. I still notice new things; that is one of the consolations, even though the season was so short.

There was this shirt I saw at the last convention I was at: How much Firefly crap do I have to buy before they bring the show back?

I love that they speak Chinese for a reason. And the treatment of gender - it absolutely recognizes that the outdated stereotypes and rugged practicality can and did coexist. And also that the sets flowed. So yeah - writing and ideals and form and function all got melted into a delicious gooey fondue of awesomesauce.

I wish that there were subtitles during the Chinese. But I gather that the Chinese is mostly just for cussing.

I'm a language junkie. I have zero Mandarin, but I love when the writing and the acting are so focused that you only need context.

ITA. And def watch the show in order Joss wanted it aired, not the way Fox aired it (out of order )

Serenity is one of my favorite movies of all time. If it's on TV, I'm probably watching it. :Y:
