We did IVF to conceive our twins and have been very open about it. It has bit us in the ass since DH has family members convinced that was the root cause of my severe morning sickness I had. I was hospitalized most of the pregnancy with the twins for morning sickness issues and had an iv attached to me for hydration. They are also convinced we aren't telling the truth about Chris being a happy whoops. We were told the chance of us being able to conceive on our own was 1% so we weren't exactly preventing.
His family had the balls to tell me this was the root cause of my children's special needs. "If you play God, you have consequences". Yea, we don't talk to parts of the family any more because of it. In fact, one of his family members refused to go to a RE after she was convinced that the "drugs" cause all my issues. She tried for about 10 years on her own.
Wow. I wouldn't talk to them anymore either! And for "Happy Whoops" it can happen! My good friend whose baby is 3 weeks younger than A is pregnant with Happy Whoops twins. She had to do IVF to conceive her baby and her older son. So of course, they weren't preventing and she was breast feeding. Wouldn't you know...surprise twin pregnancy.

Wow, Marissa- I'm sorry your family said/believes those things. I'm pro IVF, and I'm sure my family knows that. Obviously it is their situation, and their child and they are allowed to tell what they want. I hate that infertility can't be discussed more openly, because it is nothing to be ashamed of. I would have loved to encourage them through their struggle. Also, my brother is very immature when it comes to women's health. He called her morning sickness "a complication."

What jerks. Do they not realize plenty of women have serve morning sickness, most whom did not get IVF. I barf every day multiple time until I had ds, even with zofran. And I can not begin to tell you how much I hate when people use God as a reason to say terrible things to someone else, like they feel they are justified in saying it. How do you not slap your inlaws every time you see them?
Holy shit-fuck. You cannot put this out there and not tell me who it is. PM me her name. If it's who I'm thinking, I'll give you a juicy detail in return.
I am pretty sure I know who she is talking about. I was thinking the other day that she popped up and then disappeared again.
Did she a bunch of comments on gay marriage a couple weeks ago?

They forgot to look at that. My grandmother, mother, sister and I all puked badly. My sister was pregnant around the same time I was with Chris. She was due in April and I was due in October. My in-laws made lots of comments about things.
The person who made the comment about my use of "drugs" to have our twins was basically cut off. I am nice around them at family functions when we are invited and they are there but that's about it.
As far as the other comments, about IVF causing the special needs...that was my MIL. I don't say anything any more because she found out she has the genetic syndrome my youngest does. It is inherited and passed down from her to my husband and to our youngest son (and possibly the twins). She has made some really nasty comments but has started to make ones lately that are showing me she "gets" it. I have given her tons of info on the genetic disorder and autism. She asked me where I ordered my autism awareness necklaces from and cried when we gave her one for Mother's Day. This is the same woman who told me it was "my faulty" eggs that caused the genetic syndrome before we knew it was inherited. Now she is telling people about her daughter-in-law who is a special needs advocate and fights like hell for her kids instead of how I caused their issues.
