We took advantage of the kids cruise free special with Disney and are heading on a cruise in January. Problem seems to be sleeping arrangements. Unless we get a family suite, regular balcony rooms and oceanview rooms just have a single bed in the pull out couch, then a bunk that comes down above it. This is in addition of course to the normal bed in the room. Problem is, none of us can/will sleep on the above bunk. If my husband and I are in the regular bed, one kid is in the single bed from the couch, I'm not comfortable with putting the other 3 year old on the bunk above. And my husband and I aren't comfortable sleeping up there.
I'm actually surprised they don't have a regular pull out bed in the sofa like other cruiselines. Does anyone have any recommendations of sleeping arrangements they did without using a top bunk? I'm thinking of bringing the travel bed that one step up has but the logistics of getting on a plane with it doesn't seem possible.

Can both kids just share the single bed? Even if you put their heads at opposite ends to give them a little extra wiggle room, if they are small they can fit together. Or can one just sleep on the floor? If you make a big deal about it being something cool I bet they wont mind. Set the comforter up on the floor to soften it a bit and make a spot for them.

When we cruised, our girls were 4 and 6. DH and I took the bed, my younger daughter was on the fold out couch, and my older daughter did just fine in the upper bunk. There was a railing to keep her from falling out and as restless a sleeper as she is we didn't have any problems.
The fold out bed beneath was nowhere near big enough for both of them. The only alternatives would have been one kid in the bed with us or one on the floor (and that would have been a pretty tight squeeze, never mind me being squeamish about how clean the carpet really was).
Thanks ladies. Do you think it's possible to pull off the mattress on the top bunk and put it on the floor? I thought I read that a while back on cruise critic.
