Hi all. I was posting about possibly adopting a pittie on TN. Sadly it was not meant to be. Today the cattle dog rescue I follow on FB crossed posted about 10 blue heeler pups that need homes. Tyson is a blue heeler so we know and love the breed. The pups are in Georgia.I emailed the group to find out if they adopt out of state and if we can do a transport. Got a yes to both! Emailed the group back about shots, act. Waiting to hear back.
Any ideas on transports work? I mean how do we find one and how much does it cost? Tyson was given to us by a family who could not care for him and our cats were from a breeder (NOT a bib) so this is all very new to us.
Thank you very much. Also is everyone staying here or using both here and the nest. I lurk more then anything but have learned so much from the regulars and want to keep learning!

There are several ways to do a transport. One finding a reputable company that will charge anywhere from 100 and up depending how far you need them to go. Another is a run sheet that a volunteer normally helps put together and we do legs like an hour each until the dog arrives. Where are you located apprx if you don't want to be specific? Congrats on adding to the family.

Thanks for the info everyone. Troopersmom- I am in R.I. I am hoping to hear back again from the rescue soon. I know they are very busy. How long should I wait before I contact them again? I don't want to be bothersome.

Have you already applied for the dog or are you just asking general questions for now? I'd give them at least 3 days since usually these rescues are ran by volunteers with other full time jobs.

No application yet. The post just stated to email the rescue group. From what I got out of the FB post they had no room and were trying to find homes or fosters so the pups did not have to be surrendered. It has been a few days so I sent a (hopefully) nice email just stating if they are still in need of good homes we are still interested.

One of our pups when I lived with my roommate (she kept him) was adopted and transported. It was a volunteer group that the rescue hooked me up with that did as PP said where they did an hour or so of the leg each meeting up and passing him on until he got to us.
