Pouring rain here this morning. Rough night (no sleep!) with the little one so I loaded him in the car and drove to the drive-thru Starbucks about 15 minutes away. I'm not a huge coffee drinker and I would not usually drive this far, but today I felt like I really deserved a Pumpkin Spice Latte -- it is the only coffee drink I like so I get excited for this time of year.
Of course the drive-thru line is SUPER long because it's raining. That's okay, I'll wait. The baby isn't making noise and it's nice just to have some silence
After 20 (yes, 20!) minutes of waiting, I get to the order screen and the employee tells me they are all out of Pumpkin Spice! wtf?! At 7am? They couldn't have posted a note on one of the several pictures promoting PSL before entering the drive-thru? I'm not someone who likes conflict or causing a scene so I just ordered a regular latte (I'm not really familiar with coffee drinks so I had no clue what to order!!!). Anyway, it tastes like crap, I didn't get my PSL, and I essentially wasted an hour of my time. Major fail.
If this ever happens again, I highly recommend the Chai Tea Latte or Hazelnut Latte (only about 150 calories if you get skinny or soy in a Tall). Both are yummers.

Thank you! I will definitely try those one of those next time. I think I was in panic / shock with the line of cars behind me... "uuugggh no pumpkin spice?!?"
I re-read this post and laughed. I can't believe I'm complaining about my Starbucks experience while there are people with *real* problems out there. Sorry!!! Don't hold it against me please
Dude, I'd be angry if they were out of PSL too! Another vote for the white mocha mmmm.
Sometimes I just need to get out and drive somewhere with the girls. When my H was in OTS, I couldn't for the life of me, get them to nap at the same time and thought I was going to lose my mind. As soon as they got in the car though they would both go to sleep. I would go through the Starbucks drive through, get a $50 drink and $80 sandwich and sit in the parking lot reading my kindle. Pure bliss, I tell ya.

Vent away! It does suck to be looking forward to something and not be able to get it, even if it is something relatively small. Sometimes, the smallest things matter a lot when we have other stressors on our plates...

I would have vented, too.
I can't help with the order. PSL is the only flavored drink I'll order. Otherwise it's just plain nonfat lattes for me. Or, it was, back in those distant days when I could drink a pot of coffee, and my heart wouldn't flutter. Damn, I miss caffeine.

Do they still have Cinnamon Dolce Lattes? That was my go-to Starbucks order.
And as one who might be considered having *real* problems/concerns (deployed DH, living in a foreign country raising our three year old lunatic, I mean child)--vent away. Those with with concerns don't have a corner on the venting market. Earlier today, I bitched to a few girlfriends about not having much fun while we are here in Paris. Ummm, hello? Really? I need to get over myself!
