I can't imagine would have sent an invite to Dubya. If Romney were to win, or McCain had won, I would probably send them an invite. I'm too young to really answer about anyone before Clinton, but my guess is I probably would have sent one to Reagan and might have to poppy Bush. So I think Dubya is the exception, but it's hard to tell.

We sent a wedding announcement and a baby announcement both to GWB. They send a little note back. It's an awesome keepsake. I would totally do it again regardless of the president. It's awesome to receive mail from The White House.
But, I am totally in the "respect the position" camp and I think that every president deserves to be respected even if I don't agree with them...or even if I hate their guts completely.
I still regret I didn't send a wedding invite to Obama!
ettm?
You must have been off TK when this happened .
If you send an invite for certain special events to the White House, the mail you back a nice card congratulating you, with auto-pen autographs from POTUS and FLOTUS. I think I posted to Seattle TK (I got it from P&E) and a bunch of people ended up sending invites.
There's a list of events somewhere, but it's stuff like weddings, birth of a child, 50th or higher wedding anniversary, birthdays above some number, being at same company for 40 years, maybe college graduations, etc.

I'm learning so much stuff from my Nexties! Yeah, I think I was gone from TK by this point because I don't remember this at all.
yes. like babya, i "respect the position"..whether or not i voted for him.
i didn't send a wedding invite to our current pres (and regret it!), but i sent a baby announcement and i have a keepsake back. uw, i'll PM you a picture (has bjl's first/mid/last name on it, so not posting).

There's a great quote from John Wayne about JFK winning, it's something like "Well, I didn't vote for him, but he's my President, and I hope he does a good job". I really like that one.
But Dubya was just the pits. I couldn't do it for him.

I tried to redact the names and then scan it, but the scan went through the sharpie. Here is the verbiage, though of each from 2004 and 2005 respectively - not sure if they change.
