I telecommute. It's great. I worked in the office for this company before DH and I married, and when DH got orders to a new area, the asked me to stay on via telecommuting.
We have since moved several times, and I've been able to continue telecommuting. I'm an engineer, so it's incredibly awesome to have been able to continue a professional career thru the moves, because engineering companies tend to want folks a bit more permanent than military spouses.
Well, DH has orders to Korea, and we are likely getting command sponsorship for me. So, I contacted my boss last week to let him know about the likely move coming up. Were it within the US, it would merely be an inconvenience, and not too big a deal. But because of this move being so far, and so many timezones away, I wasn't sure they'd be up for continuing my employment.
This morning I had a teleconference with my boss about something else, and he started the call by letting me know that they want to keep me on, and are working on the logistics of making sure it can happen.
Yay!
I'm pretty sure with them wanting to keep me on, and me wanting to continue working for them, we can make this work. Taxes may end up really freaking confusing, but otherwise, it looks like I'm still going to be employed next year! This is awesome news! I did a little happy dance here after I got off the call!
